BIBA FEVER

Original Biba designer Barbara Hulanicki  has claimed that House of Fraser's prices are 'too expensive' for the new Biba range that has recently arrived in their stores. I have to agree I was a little disappointed when looking at the price label attached to items. Barbara Hulanicki  claims that they have completely ignored the essential point of the original Biba style and cheap pricing. The original Biba was the quintessential shop of the swinging sixties offering clothes for the general public that were affordable and a key part of the throw away aesthetics at the time.

However House of Fraser has missed the boat on this important fact with a pair of Biba Stretched Denim Lola jeans setting you back a pricey £60, a Jersey Tie Front Dress a money grabbing £70 and a Biba Black Skinny Sequined Scarf a staggering £45 or a Maxi-length Leopard Print coat a whopping £360 it is no wonder that Barbara Hulanicki is disappointed in the House of Fraser's relaunch of her brand.

However good news for all of you that want to get your hands on a piece of modern Biba, at an affordable price (as a student myself this is essential to my student budget living) Barbara Hulanicki  has promised that she is too relaunch a low-priced line for ASDA. This line will be launched in November and will consist of 12 designs. “The prices at ASDA are just amazing,” she told Drapers. “These will really be Biba prices. F*** you [House of Fraser].”
